Today’s All-Star Jam is a clear shout-out to birthday boy Townsman Hrrundivbakshi. Feel free to shower him with your favorite video performances from his Holy Trinity of Rock (ie, ELO, Prince, and ZZ Top). My gift follows the jump

  1. Happy birthday HVB. Here’s a tune that Jeff Lynne can’t remember recording with ELO. Duckworth Lewis Method are the Divine Comedy & another guy who make records about Cricket which is what we English have instead of sport.

Hey, Loose — that’s an excellent little chune. Thanks!

Who else wants to give me something they think I’d like and maybe haven’t heard before?

  4. hrrundivbakshi

That would be more meaningful if I knew who Carly Rae Jepsen is. But thanks just the same!

Thanks for the fine birthday vuh-deo, Mod. I was kind of hoping for actual footage of the live on-stage menagerie from the Top’s Worldwide Texas Tour, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers.

  6. My friend, I’m trying. Someone managed to smuggle a camera into one of these shows, but in the lone clip I have found not even a prairie fox is visible on stage.

Lay off. She’s a national treasure.

  9. How I wish I could find the Dexter’s Laboratory episode called “Sports a Poppin’.” I’m pretty sure she modeled her opening pitch after Dexter.

    Mea culpa.

Nicely played, Mystery Man… nicely played.

You know, The Joffrey Ballet choreographed a full-length ballet to the music of Prince. I couldn’t find any such special performance to the music of ZZ Top or ELO but I did find this. It should make you happy (or something). I hope you had a great day.

    You are Canadian?

  15. Happy Birthday! I’m sure you’ve seen this at one point or another but in honor of your love of Mach Shau, here’s the Collins Kids. (give it about 30 seconds or so) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jj4gKqn1HI

That was excellent! Though my birthday might have passed, I want those gifts to keep on coming. Come on, who’s got something to share they think I might like? I deserve more stuff!

  17. hrrundivbakshi

LMK, I thank you for this simple gift. I am not entirely sure what this guy was aiming for, or what the “purpose” of his version was, but it indeed is something, and for that I am grateful.

  18. The Internets cough up another potential Main Stage post!

Huey Lewis on why pre-recorded music should be banned from sporting events.

  19. Your wish is my command! Thanks, and stay tuned!

  20. Happy Birthday – I have become a HUGE ELO fan in the last year (I’ve always been a big fan, but it has escalated)
