Sounds of the hall in roughly 33 1/3 minutes!

In tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Shut-In, your Moderator celebrates Rock Town Hall’s seventh year in public blog form and pledges to take this place to the next level (not saying if it’s gonna be up or down) in 2014. To be fair, you may not consider this our seventh year at this URL. Perhaps you don’t abide by the Christian calendar. Perhaps I counted wrong (we started this place on January 12, 2007, if you want to check my math). Nevertheless, critics will consider this a truly remarkable episode, even by our usually remarkable standards. We’ll keep setting ’em up; you keep knocking them out!

Something entertaining for your evening if, like LMKR and myself, you’re gonna have 2 or 3 beers and hit the sack to read a book by 10 tonight.

I’ve always felt that bands from Minneapolis, Montreal, Buffalo, and other cold or snowy weather towns should receive a Scout badge for their winter weather skills. When loading your gear into the club from the van do you leave your coat off and freeze or do you keep your coat on and sweat your ass off? It’s a no win situation.

In this week’s episode your Moderator bemoans the dissipation of yet another clubhouse. Boo hoo hoo! Good work abounds regardless and will continue to do so. Listen in and see if you can’t help this man out of his latest crisis in faith.

This is my third independent records spotlight. In this episode we look at the 1980’s label Coyote Records out of Hoboken N.J. It was interesting how much of Coyote Records material is long out of print compared with my two previous record label spotlights from the ’60s (Kapp & Hideout). Further, there is hardly any documentation about the label’s existence despite popular releases by The Feelies and Yo La Tengo. Since this is music from the ’80s, the studio production might recoil some Townspeople but I think there some good gems included in the episode.
