Just received a piece of junk mail sent from "Thee American Mortgage Corp.", which reminded me of all the real and ersatz 60s garage punk bands with "Thee" in their names. I never understood the "thee." Is it extra-long for emphasis -- I mean, to help us pronounce it correctly? Is it some kind of incomprehensible joke at the bible or Shakespeare's expense? What?
