Wow, thanks Gerry! I never heard Big Dipper, and now I feel all left out. Oh well, it's not the first party I was late to. But I like The Younger Bums a lot. I gotta get me some of that.
2000 Man, Big Dipper is TOTALLY out of print. Their first full album, Heavens is one of the overlooked gems of my lifetime. Highly recommended. The debut ep is great too. Later releases have their high points but they probably get a little slick for your whammo-blammo sensibilities. Let me know if you can't find their stuff in the coming weeks, and I'll hook you up. Stay tuned on this band, regardless.
2000 man, later Big Dipper is not at all the good kind of slick. It's the "horrendous late 80s production with lashings of gated reverb" kind of slick. Their major-label stuff is atrocious. The only Boston band of the time that was more poorly served by their major-label album was O Positive.
Back Office! Town Hall just broke on me! The new posts all say "Sorry no posts here" I say - what up? Too much traffic, too many posts? I think Mr. Mod broke it with his Healing Mix!
