Sam is actually wondering whether it's time to bury the hatchet *in Lou*.
And you guys wonder why I think Lou Reed is completely full of shit!
On a more serious note: great cameo by Martin Short as Jamie Farr there. I may have shared this before, but my all-time fave 1970s music/film cameo comes at the tail end of the Bee Gees/Frampton "Sgt. Peppers" fiasco, where it seems like the casting director just grabbed any and every showbiz/rock has-been and wanna be and put them in the giant chorus singalong gathering for the outro to the title track. Anyhow, the camera pans across, and we see, you know, Barry, Robin and Maurice, Billy Preston, The Framp, assorted Hollywood B-listers, Nipsey Russell, Carol Channing, Charles Nelson Reilly, and... WTF?! That's albino guitar slinger Johnny Winter! It's a priceless moment.
I really wish I could find this steaming shovelful of Tinseltown dookie for you, but instead I present you with one of the few Great musical performances from that flick:
Upon reflection, I, one of Lou's primary defenders in the Hall, would like to suggest that this video be added to the Rock Crimes section of the RTH glossary.
On this eve of a holiday for giving thanks, can't we all find it in our hearts to forgive this performance, since the movie it comes from is a classic of Citizen Kane-like status?!?!
Seriously, if Mr. Mod ever lacks for threads to keep RTH active, than a Last Man Standing on all the things bad/unintentionially hilarious about this clip could go on for months...
