Those Were Different Times: Before I Was Too Cool to Dismiss How Cool The B-52's Were When They First Appeared on the Scene

...Nevermind. The cool live clip from a small club in 1978 is already gone from YouTube. Guess we'll have to maintain our "too-cool-for-school" state of amnesia.

Both 'Rock Lobster' and 'the b-52's' album were Top 10 hits in Australia at the time, and given their look and subject matter, appealed to my 7 year-old self far more than Abba or Kiss.
As such, they're still a guilty pleasure to this day, to the extent i'm probably the only one in the world excited about, 'Funplex', their first album in 16 years that drops in March next year.

I've never been cool, I guess. I thought the B 52's were great. My friends thought they were really weird, but when Love Shack came along years later they all remembered them as the weird band I liked. But they were ready for them by then, and I was okay with the band and glad to see they made it big with a song I thought their old fans should like, too. Thanks for theclip, homefront. I liked seeing that a lot.
