Buzzkill!

01/21/08 | by Mr. Moderator

Fans of the Velvet Underground, how many buzzkill moments does the crowd of VU hangers-on provide in the following, brief clip?

What's the most egregious buzzkill moment? The most subtle? At rough count, I believe there's almost 1 buzzkill for every 2 seconds of the 67-second clip.

Or have you had your B12 shot and find this aspect of the performance by The Exploding Plastic Inevitable to be a further turn on?

No B12 for me. It goes without saying that stuff like this makes me long for...

Gerard Melanga and the whip has always been a big fat buzzkill, even just in still photos.

Edie Sedgewick is an ass, but I'm still under her spell.

the abscence of Mary(rocknrollhighschool, eatingraoul)Woronov in this clip is the biggest buzzkill of all.

i find it amazing that i can make out what they're playing.

There's that guy in the kind of bush jacket (Ondine?) pseudo-dancing at around :36.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...If life were a Photoshop file, I'd delete the Gerard Malanga layer.

Also, um, hate to go Pince Nez on your ass, but this isn't a Plastic Inevitable performance, rather just the VU jamming in The Factory. The EPI refers to fullblown Warhol-palooza events.

With the exception of the boys in the band, all of the men in this video are buzzkills

My buzz gets killed when I think of how many proto-Rush Limbaughs (and to some extent the genuine article) made entire careers out of this.
