All-Star Jam

02/20/08 | by Gerry Todd

This is the part of the show where we put up some damn clip and invite you to say anything you want. The kids call it an "open thread." Damn kids. Always on my lawn and shit.

Has anyone caught that A&E show "Parking Wars"? I swear I heard the Bunnydrums on that program. I know the show is shot in Philadelphia, but is all the subtle music tracks Phillycentric too? Anyone know?

Having just watched the newly remastered version of The Song Remains the Same, why oh why did they leave in the fantasy segments? Who, now, would miss their absence?

They surely have the original live footage, right?

To me this is a double rock crime (the fantasy segments and the failure to get rod of them, when having had the chance).

Typed too fast: should be "the failure to get rid of them, when having had the chance."

Dr. John,

You have identified one of the worst Rock Crimes ever! Nice work. We should take some time to focus on this in a future post. Let me know if you want to write up the case.

nahh...

getting rid of the fantasy sequences would've smacked of revisionism, akin to changing bad album cover art to keep up with taste.

sure, they're dorky and embarrassing, but they're very much a part of the film's original conception.

i mean...in other words, i'd prefer that they get "rod" of them over getting "rid" of them!

Funniest thing on the listing is the note below the bid price of $3,002,150 stating that you can get "$10 back with a new eBay MasterCard".

KEEF WINS AGAIN!

In a recent "Uncut" interview, Keith Richards sez, of Led Zeppelin's December one-off reunion gig: "They had one? Well, well done Jimmy and Robert. F**k off. Stairway To Heaven don't make it for me, baby."

ONE STEP CLOSER TO FOUR-TRACK HELL

Well, my universal power dongle thingie didn't fix the problem -- turns out my old PortaO5 four-track is actually broken. So I took a chance on a Porta03 off of eBay, and -- since it didn't have its original power cord, a contrivance I no longer require since I bought this dongle thingie -- I got it for $16! In a few weeks, it should be arriving, and I can humiliate myself by sharing some of my incompetent demos from the late 80s with the world. Ain't the Internet grand? What's next, posting photos of me on the crapper?

BREAKING RRHoF NEWS

This, from a good friend and long-time RTH lurker:

Evidently, madonna is being inducted, but won't be performing. The Stooges are going to "serenade" her with her own hits. I will shit my pants 8 times and die on the spot if I hear Iggy sing "Like a Virgin." That should be AWESOME!
