The album is also streaming at the Merge site. Merge started running its own download service, and I found it very easy to use when I filled in some gaps in my Dinosaur Jr. collection the other night.

I was going to recommend it here, on the principle that the band and the label would get a better deal out of a Merge download than an Amazon download, but it turns out Amazon is selling the download (3 discs worth!) for $8.99, while Merge's download is $10.99. What's up with that?

Wow, I thought 17.99 was plenty generous for three cd's and a terrific book. I can get it online for less, but add a few bucks shipping and it's not much of a savings and I help keep a record store in business that calls me when my orders arrive (usually!), never charges me for preorders first, even when they include mp3 downloads before the release date, and gives me a free cd for every ten I buy. Sure, one day I'll have to buy from the Internets, but until then I'm sticking with the store. They're such cool places.

The album is super juicy! Ordinarily I wouldn't listen to three cd's in a row by one band, but these have gone down real easy and it's funny how I didn't have any idea who they were but every so often a song makes me go, "I remember THIS!" and then I turn it up. Very cool.

The cd is a limited to 5000 pressing. I guess that doesn't include downloads? Not that I buy music hoping it's rare, but I don't see any point in saying it's limited if you can download it. I guess one day we'll all just subscribe to something that let's us all have everything whenever we want and the added bonus of looking for some music will turn into a mouse click. I'm not complaining, but one day I'll miss record stores.

For those of you with an eMusic subscription, you can also download this album through that service. I'm buying the physical copy because I like touching things - and I hear the booklet is swell.

I got my copy through Amazon today for $13 and change! It sounds great and looks great. I still haven't gotten to the bonus goodies. Busy day...
