Dims Down is Cooley singing. That's a good one. Like most DBT albums, I think they could use some editing, though I'm not sure my cuts would be the right ones. All in all I think it's pretty swell and I don't miss Jason Isbell at all, but I always thought he was kind of the weakest link in that band's songwriting group.

The album is growing on me. The pacing seems slow, but maybe a heavy atmospheric feel is what they're going for. If so they've succeeded.

The best parts remind me a bit of Randy Newman's character sketches in Good Old Boys.

I wish they would have left "You and Your Crystal Myth" off the record. Pretty weak.
