You can even hear <strong><a title=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php?title=sons_of_champlin&amp;more=1&amp;c=1&amp;tb=1&amp;pb=1\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php?title=sons_of_champlin&amp;more=1&amp;c=1&amp;tb=1&amp;pb=1\" target=\"_blank\">The Sons of Champlin<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s legendary <a title=\"http:\/\/concerts.wolfgangsvault.com\/dt\/the-sons-of-champlin-concert\/1894-7818.html\" href=\"http:\/\/concerts.wolfgangsvault.com\/dt\/the-sons-of-champlin-concert\/1894-7818.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>1972 gig at Winterland<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>One gig that never occurred to me as being available at Wolfgang&#8217;s Vault, however, is <a title=\"http:\/\/concerts.wolfgangsvault.com\/dt\/billy-idol-concert\/5878-698.html?utm_source=NL&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=071212\" href=\"http:\/\/concerts.wolfgangsvault.com\/dt\/billy-idol-concert\/5878-698.html?utm_source=NL&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=071212\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Billy Idol&#8217;s 1984 show at the Oakland Coliseum Arena<\/strong><\/a>. I don&#8217;t know, I would have figured no one would take care to preserve such a recording.<\/p>\n<p>To my surprise, Billy Idol&#8217;s 1984 show at the Oakland Coliseum <em>has<\/em> been preserved, and now <strong>you<\/strong> can listen to it in streaming audio at Wolfgang&#8217;s Vault. Check out this excerpt from the concert summary:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This show was captured for the King Biscuit Flower Hour Radio Concert Series in 1984, when Billy Idol was at the peak of his popularity. He had become a poster child for MTV, and his Elvis-inspired \u201csnarled\u201d upper lip and spiked blonde hair had become a popular pop culture image all over the American landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Although this set only features about half of the songs played during the entire show, it&#8217;s almost a greatest hits collection. Included are air-tight versions of \u201cRebel Yell,\u201d \u201cDancing With Myself,\u201d \u201cHot In The City,\u201d \u201cMony Mony\u201d (his rocked-out cover of an old Tommy James &amp; The Shondells song), an extended version of \u201cWhite Wedding,\u201d as well as a blistering eight-minute version of \u201cFlesh for Fantasy.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You get that last part, which promises a <em>blistering eight-miinute version of &#8220;Flesh for Fantasy&#8221;<\/em>?
