The hope is these overviews will pay homage to the contributions of our peers and provide newcomers\u00a0easy access into the blog&#8217;s rich past.\u00a0Let&#8217;s look at Rock Town Hall&#8217;s role as a home for the holidays.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Typically readership and participation in the Halls of Rock dips during any holiday. That&#8217;s probably to be expected: people do have lives. That doesn&#8217;t mean the Hall doesn&#8217;t celebrate the holidays\u2014and even create new holidays to satisfy music lovers&#8217; need for observance.<\/p>\n<p>The Hall&#8217;s observance of <strong>Christmas<\/strong>, for instance,\u00a0has a rich tradition, beginning with\u00a0our <strong>northvancoveman<\/strong>-spearheaded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/the-rock-town-hall-xmas-record\/\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas mixes<\/a>, <strong>alexmagic<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0touching <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/and-tonight-thank-god-it-s-their-hair-in\/\" target=\"_blank\">And Tonight It&#8217;s Their Hair Instead of Yours<\/a><\/em>, and\u00a0capped off each Christmas eve by <strong>hrrundivbakshi<\/strong>&#8216;s tear-jerker, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/the-rock-town-hall-christmas-story-is-retold\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Rock Town Hall Christmas Story\u00a0Is Retold<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prime among the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/rock-oliday-the-day-the-music-died\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Rock-olidays<\/strong><\/a> Townspeople have created, however, may be <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/rock-town-hall-celebrates-the-day-the-mu\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Day the Music Died<\/a><\/strong>, observed annually each <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/it-s-not-a-rock-lbr-g-it-s-a-rock-oliday\/\" target=\"_blank\">February 3<\/a><\/strong>. This, of course, is the day <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/street-fleet-lemghow-do-you-plan-to-cele\/\" target=\"_blank\">music lovers take pause to memorialize<\/a> the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/title-9\/\" target=\"_blank\">tragic plane crash<\/a> that prematurely cut short the careers of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/once-and-for-all-holly\/\" target=\"_blank\">Buddy Holly<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Ritchie Valens<\/strong>, and perhaps most tragically, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/the-big-bopper-will-be-missed\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Big Bopper<\/a><\/strong>. The only thing Rock Town Hall was not able to achieve by officially recognizing this holiday was giving folks a day off from work.<\/p>\n<p>Other popular rock-olidays we have created and celebrated\u00a0include <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/heaven-and-hell-my-life-in-the-eagles-19\/\" target=\"_blank\">California Day<\/a><\/strong>, recognizing the the Golden State&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/the-most-coked-out-song-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\">contributions<\/a> to rock &#8216;n roll; the self-explanatory\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/the-mother-of-all-jams\/\" target=\"_blank\">JAMuary<\/a><\/strong>, which to date in 2012 we have sadly overlooked; and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/exploitive-black-rock-history-robed-choi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Exploitive Black Rock History Month<\/a><\/strong>, which\u00a0recognizes\u00a0events\u00a0in rock that\u00a0may\u00a0not in fact\u00a0be a cause for celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, it was not exactly\u00a0a rock-oliday, but few events in the history or Rock Town Hall were as memorable as our 2007 <strong>KISS Army Reunion<\/strong>, including reflections <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/in-defense-of-kiss-5-reasons-why-they-ru\/\" target=\"_blank\">pro<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/always-and-forever\/\" target=\"_blank\">con<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/letters-from-the-kiss-army\/\" target=\"_blank\">all shades in between<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In our continuing review of Rock Town Hall&#8217;s first 5 years as a blog, we will be providing some brief reviews of\u00a0key aspects of this place.
