It&#8217;s comments like Joe&#8217;s that make my occasional &#8220;work&#8221; all worthwhile. Thanks, Joe!<\/p>\n<p>Have you heard this band?<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<em>For those of you too lazy to click on over to Phawker, I wrote:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Vampire Weekend play a sold out show at First Unitarian Church tonight. If you can\u2019t get in you\u2019re not alone. Your parents were probably shut out too. The band\u2019s debut album and style of music, which they cheekily refer to as \u201cCape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,\u201d \u201cUpper West Side Soweto,\u201d \u201cCampus,\u201d and \u201cOxford Comma Riddim,\u201d goes down easy, so easy that I\u2019m sometimes reminded of \u201cEscape (The Pi\u00f1a Colada Song)\u201d. I\u2019m sure they get more questions about raiding their parents\u2019 Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel record collections than any young, smart, stylish band deserves, but that\u2019s no reason to see if they hold up to the \u201cSun City\u201d litmus test. Listen up, Moms and Dads: this is an album worth a raid on your kids\u2019 collections. The kids are all right. Let \u2018em stay out a little later after tonight\u2019s show so they can grab a late bite at a diner and have a giggle.
