I don&#8217;t like the <strong>Rancid<\/strong> for lots of reasons but their blatant <ins><strong>SoCal Clash<\/strong><\/ins> routine is reason number one.  I explored <strong>Rancid<\/strong> one afternoon while bemoaning that there would never be any new <strong>Clash<\/strong> music. I knew that they got compared to <strong>The Clash<\/strong> and figured that some B-Rate band heavily influenced by <strong>The Clash<\/strong> might be better than nothing.  I downloaded <em>Out Come the Wolves<\/em> from eMusic.<\/p>\n<p>What I found was not a band influenced but a band obsessed: <strong><ins>Pupkin-Clash<\/ins><\/strong>.  Disturbing.  It was as if they were hoping <strong>The Clash<\/strong> would break a leg so they could take the stage.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/><iframe class='youtube-player youtuber' type='text\/html' width='425' height='355' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VsVFOAMn8SY?rel=0&amp;fs=1&amp;ap=%252526fmt%253D18' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen frameborder='0'><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>They weren&#8217;t nearly the first to tryout for the role of <strong><ins>Clash Understudy<\/ins><\/strong>. That award would likely go to <strong>The Alarm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class='youtube-player youtuber' type='text\/html' width='425' height='355' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/apERyZlTUZU?rel=0&amp;fs=1&amp;ap=%252526fmt%253D18' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen frameborder='0'><\/iframe><br \/>\n<center><ins><\/p>\n<pre>Right down to the <em>Sandanista<\/em> cover pose.<\/pre>\n<p><\/ins><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t mind bands wearing their influences on their sleeves, <strong>Dream Syndicate\/VU<\/strong>, but sometimes imitation is the sincerest form of creepy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class='youtube-player youtuber' type='text\/html' width='425' height='355' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lkhXa1iN3nM?rel=0&amp;fs=1&amp;ap=%252526fmt%253D18' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen frameborder='0'><\/iframe><br \/>\n<center><ins><\/p>\n<pre>Right down to the haircut and eyeliner.<\/pre>\n<p><\/ins><\/center><\/p>\n<p><iframe class='youtube-player youtuber' type='text\/html' width='425' height='355' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SKJiVPt-KRQ?rel=0&amp;fs=1&amp;ap=%252526fmt%253D18' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen frameborder='0'><\/iframe><br \/>\n<center><ins><\/p>\n<pre>Right down to the use of a \"ye olde\" font.<\/pre>\n<p><\/ins><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Anyone got any other understudies they want to bitch about?  Anyone got any understudies that they like?
