MODERATOR FOR PRACTICALLY NAILING IT.<\/strong><\/ins> <\/p>\n<p>Jah Wobble (bass: early <em>PIL<\/em>), and Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit (both from <em>Can<\/em>, bass &amp; drums respectively) released the LP <em>Full Circle<\/em> in 1982.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_block\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/media\/blogs\/rth\/czukaywobble2.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The Mystery Date was a track called <em>How Much Are They<\/em> which was a European club hit at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Another track after the fold.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p><iframe class='youtube-player youtuber' type='text\/html' width='425' height='355' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jih34YtNn9c?rel=0&amp;fs=1&amp;ap=%252526fmt%253D18' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen frameborder='0'><\/iframe><p>The following year Czukay and Wobble enlisted The Edge to release an album called <em>Snake Charmer<\/em>.<\/p><iframe class='youtube-player youtuber' type='text\/html' width='425' height='355' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bW9qZNcZTQ8?rel=0&amp;fs=1&amp;ap=%252526fmt%253D18' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen frameborder='0'><\/iframe><p>I found the Czukay\/Wobble collaboration idea interesting not for just the idea of <strong>PIL<\/strong> meets <strong>Can<\/strong> but also as a collaboration between two fringe bass players.<\/p>\n<p>Czukay is an interesting fellow and has had influence or at least association with an album that I hold dear.  <\/p>\n<p>Czukay&#8217;s 1980 release album <em>Movies<\/em> has a lot in common with <em>My Life in the Bush of Ghosts<\/em>.  Many think that Eno\/Byrne appropriated the <strong>dubwise shortwave sampling<\/strong> concept from <em>Movies<\/em> but given that <em>MLITBOG<\/em> was ready for release in &#8217;80 and held back a year for legal reasons it is difficult to imagine that the <em>Movies<\/em> LP released in &#8217;80 could have had that kind of impact.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a track from <em>Movies<\/em> that uses sampled dialog in a similar same way as MLITBOG:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rocktownhall.com\/czwo\/HollywoodSymphony.mp3\">Hollywood Symphony<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Check out the sample at around 2:30 in. The &#8220;positively!&#8221; Sounds an awful lot like the &#8220;absolutely!&#8221; part in <em>America Is Waiting<\/em>. Likely a coincidence but interesting nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p>But if you go back to his first solo album, while he was still with <strong>Can<\/strong>, <em>Canaxis<\/em>, you <strong>can<\/strong> hear the roots of <em>MLITBOG<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rocktownhall.com\/czwo\/BoatWomanSong.mp3\">Boat-Woman-Song<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MAD PROPS TO MR.
