Directors would be commissioned to either assemble a concert film from archived or found footage or stage dramatic interpretations of the album. Each film would run the length of the live album&#8217;s original vinyl release.<\/p>\n<p>You mission follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suggest a live album for this treatment<\/li>\n<li>Select an appropriate director<\/li>\n<li>Imagine the visual style\/storytelling technique for your film.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to see <strong>Paul Thomas Anderson<\/strong> direct a dramatic treatment of <strong>Lou Reed<\/strong>&#8216;s <em>Rock &#8216;n Roll Animal<\/em>. It would be shot in grainy, washed-out color, somewhere between the porno look of <em>Boogie Nights<\/em> and the painterly oil drilling scenes from\u00a0<em>There Will Be Blood<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Staying with Lou Reed, I&#8217;d like to see <strong>The Velvet Underground<\/strong>&#8216;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/overlooked-gems-of-my-lifetime-the-velve\/\" target=\"_blank\">Live at Max&#8217;s Kansas City<\/a><\/em> directed by <strong>Michel Gondry<\/strong>, who would find ways to make the most of the crumbling legacy of an already underground band as they plays what would be their farewell show. Song performances involving puppetry and primitive-futuristic technology would be expected.<\/p>\n<p>The summer tentpole movies of this series would be\u00a0<strong>KISS<\/strong><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/letters-from-the-kiss-army\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alive I &amp; II<\/a><\/em>.
