You think this is disturbing?<\/p><\/div>\n

Although I don’t believe rock ‘n roll has provided any photographs as disturbing as the most disturbing images we’ve seen published from wars, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, and so forth, it has produced its own collection of disturbing images that, once seen, are forever burned in the viewer’s mind. Before you click on any of the following linked images, please beware that, although safe<\/em> for work, \u00a0they may cause the viewer irreparable harm, or at the least a crisis in the viewer’s faith in rock ‘n roll.<\/p>\n

For all but our youngest readers, it’s too late to put this horse back in the barn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As has been well documented in these hallowed halls there are the moving images that spring from this epic fail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here’s a shot not even the harshest of Godfathers deserves<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the next page are some images that are not so safe<\/em> for most workplaces. These tap into rock ‘n roll’s long tradition of shock value.<\/p>\n

Remember this guy and them murder junkies<\/a> he surrounded himself with?<\/p>\n

Then there’s this legendary meeting of rockers<\/a> who were not improved, respectively (from left to right), by removal of clothing or greasepaint.<\/p>\n

I believe the most disturbing photo in the history of rock is after the jump, an image I scanned out of my late-’70s edition of The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock and Roll<\/em>. I think you will see why this image was deleted from future printings of this book and has not, until now, ever been seen on the web.<\/p>\n
