Whether sounding like <strong>Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark<\/strong> on human growth hormone on \u201cHalfway Home\u201d or <strong>INXS<\/strong> with the shades pulled back and a window opened on \u201cCrying\u201d, human hands firmly guide the mouse. Unlike <strong>Gnarls Barkley<\/strong>, another practitioner of Silicon Soul, there\u2019s a muscular sexuality at the core of TV\u2019s productions. Like mid-period <strong>Roxy Music<\/strong>, you can take this band to a fancy restaurant but you suspect all sense of decorum is out the door once back at your place. Guitarist\/producer <strong>David Sitek<\/strong> deserves a lot of credit for the success of this album. An affectless, wheezy, 4-note bass synth pattern underpins the <strong>Prince<\/strong>-worthy party of \u201cGolden Age\u201d. It\u2019s a subtle triumph of minimalism that ties back to Brian Eno and David Byrne\u2019s subversive commercial highwater marks. The album closes with \u201cLover\u2019s Day\u201d, with a martial snare beat and an orchestral coda worthy of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Portsmouth_Sinfonia\" target=\"_blank\">Portsmouth Sinfonia<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TV On the Radio, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/media\/users\/frankenslade\/GoldenAge.mp3\" title=\"\">&#8220;Golden Age&#8221;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s good to hear a band make something worthwhile out of the scrapheap of Yamaha DX-7 synths and Linn drum machines that was the \u201980s.
