{"id":19053,"date":"2013-06-07T08:36:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T12:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/?p=19053"},"modified":"2013-06-07T08:37:51","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T12:37:51","slug":"is-this-the-real-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/is-this-the-real-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Is This the Real Life?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Hall and House\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philebrity.com\/2013\/06\/05\/daryl-hall-will-have-his-own-home-renovation-show-because-there-is-no-turning-back-now\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Daryl Hall<\/strong> is apparently getting his on restoration show on the DIY Channel<\/a>, in which he will \u201crestore a 1-bedroom house in Connecticut that had originally been built circa 1780 by a widowed sea captain.\u201d I\u2019ve subsisted with rabbit ears for about 3 years now but if any show has tempted me to get cable again, this is it. So many questions, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why?<\/li>\n<li>Will there be musical interludes?<\/li>\n<li>Why would the DIY channel approach Daryl Hall rather than someone known for their DIY can-do attitude like Henry Rollins or the guys in Fugazi, or Bon Iver, whom I assume built his own log cabin in the woods?<\/li>\n<li>Will Oates be relegated to just handing the screwdriver to Daryl or will he actually have a more hands-on role in creating the finished project?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_19057\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/daryl-hall_1.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19057\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19057\" alt=\"If I had a hammer...\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/daryl-hall_1.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19057\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">If I had a hammer&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The reality TV show craze is fascinating to me. It\u2019s been going on for 22 years now (if <em>The Real World<\/em> is considered to be the show that ushered in the era), and I am amazed at the resourcefulness of the various shows\u2019 creators to come up with ideas for new series.
