For instance:<\/p>\n<p>Rolling Stones\/Grateful Dead<\/p>\n<p>Brian Jones is to the Stones as Pigpen is to the Grateful Dead<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Defined the image early on<\/li>\n<li>Largely influenced the band\u2019s musical direction in the beginning only to be eclipsed by band mates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mick Taylor = Keith Godchaux<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Virtuoso brought in once they were established.<\/li>\n<li>Feelings of being under-appreciated by audience\/bandmates cause them to leave their once-in-a-lifetime gigs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ron Wood = Brent Mydland<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solid, unobtrusive player<\/li>\n<li>Goes along to get along<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mick Jagger = Bob Wier<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Of the two main band members, he is seen as being much more uncool<\/li>\n<li>Actual contributions to the band are frequently underestimated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keef = Jerry<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always given the benefit of the doubt by the fans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bill Wyman = Tom Constantine<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nobody really cares<\/li>\n<li>Possibly just photo fodder to make the other members look more interesting\/attractive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Are there any other two bands where individual member\u2019s roles match up so neatly?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve noticed some startling parallels in how the roles of certain members of different bands match up, making me think that rather than arising organically from a mutual love of music, these bands were assembled by the record industry, or more likely the Illuminati, from templates.
