I know what <em>OMG<\/em> and <em>LOL<\/em> mean, but there are too many Internet terms I need to look up. Same for rap\/hip-hop slang. I\u2019m glad there\u2019s such a thing as the Urban Dictionary. This all makes listening to current songs problematic.<\/p>\n<p>Then, I heard this song recently:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FPu_G-T28iU\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yes, South Philly&#8217;s, Upper Darby&#8217;s, and Villanova\u2019s very one Jim Croce! (And how about those Wildcats last night?!?!)<\/p>\n<p>Listening to it, I realized there are references that might baffle kids these days (or, to quote another Philly legend, Jerry Blavat, the Geator with the Heater, \u201cthe yon\u2019 teens in the Delaware Valley\u201d).<!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s take the title first. Are there such things as telephone operators nowadays? Can you dial \u201c0\u201d and get a phone number or assistance with a call? Who knows? And when\u2019s the last time you\u2019ve done it?<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019m sure there are phone booths&#8230;somewhere\u2026<\/p>\n<p>And those lines,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Thank you for your time, ah, you&#8217;ve been so much more than kind<br \/>\nAnd you can keep the dime<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Who remembers when a phone call was a dime?<\/p>\n<p>What other references\u00a0in old rock &#8216;n roll songs would baffle millennials?<\/p>\n<p>(Bonus points for someone who can tell me what things like these are called.
