My close personal friend Townsman Andyr sunk more money into Beatles bootlegs than I was willing to sink, and whenever I’d check them out, I was amazed at how little worthwhile material they left on the cutting-room floor. The set did include, as EPG mentioned the other day, the exquisite “I’m Looking Through You, version 2.” Does anyone NOT wish that had been the officially released version of that song? I don’t dislike the original, but it always strikes me as the genesis of Simon & Garfunkel. (And believe me, the last thing I want to do in this special healing re-opening of Rock Town Hall is strike up a friendship-threatening debate over the merits of Simon & Garfunkel vs Paul Simon solo.)

So again, if you can find it in yourself to select your Top 3 previously unreleased gems discovered via bootleg or official outtake release, I’m all ears. I haven’t given this much thought yet, so I’ll play along with you.
