{"id":2829,"date":"2010-07-11T18:42:46","date_gmt":"2010-07-11T22:42:46","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-07-11T18:42:46","modified_gmt":"2010-07-11T18:42:46","slug":"the-beatles-are-heavier-than-the-rolling-stones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/the-beatles-are-heavier-than-the-rolling-stones\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The Beatles Are Heavier Than The Rolling Stones&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"image_block\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/media\/blogs\/rth\/beatlesheavy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/media\/blogs\/rth\/beatlesheavy.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"331\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"image_legend\">Workin&#8217; their mojo.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>I ran into an acquaintance from the Halls of Rock recently who had been following the recently completed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/england-claims-victory-in-inaugural-rock-town-hall-world-cup-of-rock-n-roll\" target=_blank>Rock Town Hall World Cup of Rock &#8216;n Roll<\/a>. &#8220;You know the most striking thing I learned?&#8221; he confided, &#8220;The Beatles are heavier than The Rolling Stones.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s interesting,&#8221; I replied, not surprised that he would come to that conclusion and, based on my own prejudices, almost immediately swayed by his conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>He continued. &#8220;I <em>love<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/the_charlie_watts_hoax\" target=_blank>Charlie Watts<\/a> &#8211; don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8211; but he&#8217;s a <em>light<\/em>,&#8221; he said, sliding up a few notes as he reached the <em>t<\/em> in <em>light<\/em>, &#8220;drummer. And the Stones don&#8217;t have McCartney on bass.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Then, before we parted ways, we discussed how much the Stones&#8217; heaviosity must be based on their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocktownhall.com\/blogs\/index.php\/excluding-sleater-kinney-has-a-top-fligh\">image<\/a>. Depending on how we define <em>heavy<\/em> in this context, this Townsman may have a point. <\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t been able to shake these comments since that chance encounter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Workin&#8217; their mojo.
