I’ll check with my brother, but I believe it’s a colloquial way of saying “there it is,” as in “there’s the apple.” I watched a different spot in the series where the gag works a bit differently:
Couple (after drinking a sip): Aaahh… there’s the apple!
The town of Swindon – home of XTC, as every XTC-loving nerd like myself immediately knows – has a website archiving its electronic glories. If you search specifically for XTC (I wouldn’t know what else to search for in this mythic town I’ve never visited) you’ll find a wealth of video goodies! Here’s the link to an XTC search on this site:
I’ve seen a lot of early videos I’ve never seen before, including a set of Go 2 songs on the classic New Wave white background. So much of the early stuff is incredibly geeky, but that comes with the territory. Check out this 1976 performance of the needle-lifter “Science Friction.” Who’s the guy on keyboards? I can’t recognize Barry Andrews, if that’s him with hair.
For the record, “ringo” means “apple” in Japanese.
That’s good to know. Then, do the girls simply mispronounce his last name, or does what sounds like “sitar” also mean something in Japanese.

This one’s not to be missed, a mid-’70s band of Dave Gregory’s, with Dave (far right) on rhythm guitar.

That “Space Shanty” song is AWESOME. Awesomely funny, that is. I especially liked the big missing cymbal crash at the end.
Wow, the Helium Kidz!

Just the concept of a “Space Shanty” is priceless, no? I’m glad you’re digging this stuff, HVB. Sadly, I didn’t find any clips from Nonsuch:P
