Who have you been dreaming about?

This sounds eerily like the story about Derek Jeter’s use of the pick-up line “What are your hopes? What are your dreams?”

The intersection of unreleased Beatles trax and soft-core porn — a basement dweller’s dream come true!

What, pray tell, is the provenance of this video? Anyone know? I mean, who was making videos of unreleased Beatle songs in the 80s?

I have not been able to figure out this video’s origin, misterioso, but my guess is a Scandanavian country has something to do with it.

Mod, I think what I like best is that that seems to actually explain things.

Maybe the publisher of that book will pick up my Hamish Stuart tell-all!

Mockcarr and I will be attending a screening of that bizarro “Paul Is Dead” rocku at an upcoming Beatles nerd-fest. You can also find the whole damn thing on YouTube.

  8. Some of you out there must be familiar with the novel Glimpses by Lewis Shiner. It’s a sci-fi novel, a “haunting and sweet story about an alienated, lonely stereo repairman who discovers that he can slip into parallel dimensions in which the great, never-recorded rock albums (lost Beatles, Beach Boys, Hendrix, etc) may yet be made, and can bring recordings of the music back on his reel-to-reel.”

I read it years ago and enjoyed it. It was published in 1993 but has been out of print for quite awhile. (In the interim, some of those ‘never recorded rock albums’ have been released.)

Anyway, it’s back in print and a free pdf download is available at http://www.boingboing.net/2010/08/30/shiners-glimpses-bac.html

Found a copy of Paul McCartney’s first solo LP in a junk store today. I’d always heard about how shitty this record is, but had never heard it. Now I have. It’s shitty!

Really? You mean McCartney (1970)? It’s terrific, except for the last cut, “Kreen-Akrore.” Are you pulling my leg?

  11. hrrundivbakshi

I do mean “McCartney” — the one with the spilt bowl of cherries on the cover. And I’m not pulling your leg. Of course, there are a few — very few — killer tracks on it. “Maybe I’m Amazed” is, of course, out of control in its Greatness. But most of the rest of it is half-baked, couldn’t-give-a-shit throwaway stuff. That should have been thrown away!

I’m surprised you like it so much. How about the rest of you?

This is an important subject to cover! I think that first McCartney album is TERRIBLE. I can’t listen to anything but the excellent “Maybe I’m Amazed.”
