Sting: Obama best person to handle world's 'mess'

NEW YORK (AP) - Sting isn't a religious man, but he says President Barack Obama might be a divine answer to the world's problems. "In many ways, he's sent from God," he joked in an interview, "because the world's a mess."

But Sting is serious in his belief that Obama is the best leader to navigate the world's problems. In an interview on Wednesday, the former Police frontman said that he spent some time with Obama and "found him to be very genuine, very present, clearly super-smart, and exactly what we need in the world."

"I can't think of any be better qualified because of his background, his education, particularly in regard to Islam," he said.

Still, Sting, who released the seasonal album "On A Winter's Night" this week, acknowledged the president had a "difficult job" ahead of him.

I admit -- though this is very real, and certainly no joke -- I mainly posted this to share Sting's unintentionally hilarious photo, which matches his speechifying quite perfectly.

If there were an NFL-style draft--32 teams x 7 rounds = 224 picks--of rock personalities (how's that for a RTH discussion, Mr. Moderator?), Sting would have to be the 224th pick, ergo, Mr. Irrelevant.

What I found creepy about Bittman's clip was the way all four Stings bob and nod their heads in time to the music -- but with no real behavioral correctness or believability. It's hard to put into words, but I guess it turns out that when groups of people make music and bob heads together, they do it in a certain way that is unified and, I dunno, makes "conversational" sense. These four Stings look like bobblehead dolls; it all seems so weird and random or something. Interesting.
