Change is good. Change is necessary, right? Everyone knows that for creativity to blossom change is essential. We love change! But should all things be open to change? Do Cheap Trick fans really want to see Rick Nielsen in anything but his standard goofball get-up? Led Zeppelin‘s In Through the Out Door Look had to make long-time burnout fans squirm just a little before Bonzo died prior to the band’s next appointment with the stylist. And did anyone want to hear Bo Diddley play an augmented chord?

What things in rock ‘n roll should never change?

  1. AC/DC is Rock’s Gibraltar. A one-trick pony, but what a trick. I like it when they do that “AC/DC thing they do.”

i’m very happy (the) Ramones never did a disco single.
Unlike everybody else from the late 70s.
I love disco. i’m just glad they stayed true to form.

  3. I’m glad Bowie has stayed “stylish.” It’s way too late in the game for a “whole grain” Bowie. Don’t ever change, David. Don’t ever appear in public wearing a denim shirt or a courdoroy jacket with suede elbow patches.

I don’t know about this. Heraclitus said you can’t step into the same river twice. Not changing is change, because the context has changed. This is why the AC/DC of today makes me cringe. ‘He not busy being born is busy dying’ and all that.

Chrissie Hynde should never change her Look.

  6. The chunky riff, whoever is playing it. Don’t ever change the chunky riff.

  7. Yes, but Steve, you’re not a 12-year-old boy any more. Somebody has to wear short pants and sing about boners.

  8. Mwall!!! Welcome back to the Halls of Rock. Your concise, manly posts have been missed.

  9. I’m cool with anyone singing about boners, but please, put some long pants on! 🙂

I think somebody should do it. I just don’t think Angus should do it anymore. Having done it is good enough.

I think I haven’t changed enough to answer this.

  12. I’m going to squat right here and dump a browserful of the classic “AC/DC Board Meeting” for good measure:
