Today would have been Jimi Hendrix‘s 69th birthday. If you ask me, the man is still light years ahead of all other guitarists. Enjoy this 1990 panel chat involving Friend of the Hall Simon Reynolds, among others. Then, enjoy the following subdued performance.

I haven’t had time to watch the full interview segment, but I did watch the first minute or so and wanted to comment on the introductions of the panelists.

Can we agree that Richard Williams dominates the rest of the panelists during the introductions? Everybody else kind of stares earnestly and blinks a little, but Williams comes in with his head lowered thoughtfully, then drops that wry smile when his musical background is mentioned. Well played, well played. Take note, any future TV panelists out there in the Hall.

  2. I see what you’re saying, but had Charles Shaar Murray resisted such a warm grin at the end of his introduction and kept it more wry he may have given Williams a run for his money.
