God Ike Turner’s guitar always sounds great. I wish some brave record label would attempt to anthologize his work.

That Slade record really sucked. It had a bad beat, I couldn’t dance to it, I give it a 15. I liked that Moody Blues track though. I haven’t really heard their early stuff outside of Go Now. Denny Laine really had something going on back then. I wonder what he looks like now.

Hey — I finally figured out a way to listen to these things, and I must say this week’s episode was great. All kinds of below-the-radar dance gems. And you’ve really raised the production values bar for me — thanks a LOT.

Once again, the Wire number was the top of my list. Good show!

  4. That first Moody Blues album I have has a few other choice cuts on it. Too bad Laine didn’t stick around to lead them in that direction. The stuff they’re better known for led to some really bad approaches to rock ‘n roll.

  5. Yeah, that couple really dug it, especially the guy. I still think the girl was just trying to be cool.

  6. Lord knows we missed sammy, but the on-location crew did a spectacular job. All credit is due to them. Mad props to the folks at Urges, too. They were great to work with. We’ll probably schedule another Shakedown in the future.
