I’m stuck working from home during a snowstorm…again. I bet people in manly, cold-weather towns like Chicago and Minnesota don’t spend every snow day holed up working from home. Not that I dislike working from home, but there’s something to be said for getting a shower and getting out of my sweats.

With no tremendous topic to put forth, I ask you: What are you listening to, right now?

I’m presently listening to nothing, although that will change shortly.

I look forward to your answers.

  1. I’m listening to The Donuts’ upcoming album, POW!

  2. 2000 Man

I just finished listening to Let It Bleed. Those Rolling Stones are pretty good! Next I’m going to listen to an album I just got because I liked the blurb on the cover. It’s something by The Jacobites. I guess it’s a band Nikki Sudden was in after he was in some other band I never heard of called Swell Maps. It’s supposed to be chock full of Stonesy goodness, so I’m kind of excited about that.

Over lunch, I listened to “(Not Just) Knee Deep,” by Funkadelic, Holst’s “The Planets,” and finally, the Isley Brothers’ “3+3” album. Currently, I am listening to shitty TV commercial soundtracks, as my daughter has been (very briefly) pawned off on teevee daycare while my wife takes a well deserved break. Trying to work while kiddie TV commercials are blaring from the next room is a challenge.

Over lunch I listened to a bunch of youtube interviews with Buzz Osborne of the Melvins. He’s a smart guy. Annoying laugh though. Now back to work on annual appraisals. Ugh.

I was listening to Nico’s 1st album, Chelsea Girls, which I have as part of the VU & Nico deluxe box set, while reading a book called Before the Deluge, a history of Berlin in the 1920s. It fitted in quite well.

  6. Playing cards & drinking beer with friends on the Northeast snow day. Listened to Pop Hits channel on cable radio until I got sick of it, then Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, then folks requested something in a different style so my 14-15 collected tracks of Queen.

Right now it’s the White Album, as requested by my son. He asked for Beatles, I put on “With the Beatles,” to which he objected but he enjoyed side 1, then we switched.

Earlier today, for the big digout, I put on the headphones and checked out Neil Finn’s spacey new album. Definitely vibe-heavy, not much of his concise side here.

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys is in heavy rotation in the car.
I’m also reading Richard Hell’s book, so I’m on a steady diet of Television, Heartbreakers and his solo stuff. Although, he didn’t officially record with the first two bands his fingerprints are all over their songs.
I always thought L.A.M.F. got a bad rap. I’ve never had an issue with the production for that matter.

  9. Underwater Moonlight is what I’m listening to right now too. Up to “You’ll Have to Go Sideways”.

We had Spacemen 3 “Recurring” in the car on the way over to our favorite bar tonight; now I’ve got the new Cibo Matto single stuck in my head. Can’t wait to buy the new album!

  11. Listening to “All the Way from Memphis” as I cool down from the gym. Not exactly cool-down music!
