    Cans! He hates cans!

Our local college station had a David Bowie Marathon today. The few hours I was within range, they were mostly playing some real kick ass Bowie tunes. I got to hear Velvet Goldmine, so that was pretty cool.

Sammy, thought you’d dig the first item in this local Philly gossip column:

I wonder if David Carradine was an INXS fan?

  4. All-Star Jam: Macca, Dylan and Ringo. Could it possibly be any good?

Ha. I was just think last night that Cole Hamels deserves a big tip o’ the hat for throwing 9 shutout innings with only 97 pitches AND walking off the field looking like he could be in an Abercrombie & Fitch ad.

Like so many these new-era Phillies, Hamels too deserves to have a blow dryer named after him.

Mod, your Phillies are just gorgeous!

I really don’t wanna know what the guy on the far right is about to do.

Sammy, if employees of The Back Office are allowed to win the Comment of the Month award, you may have locked up the month of June! That bad boy needs to go Main Stage so I can share it with fellow Phillies fans.

Jus’ wanted to give a big thumbs up for the Huffamoose mention in the latest poll. Yes, it is a terrible band name, but their CD “We’ve Been Had Again” was in heavy rotation at the jeangray household circa ’97.

Went to see them do an in-store around this time. There were only about a half-dozen of us there, one of whom was Peter Buck. Mr. Buck being a very approachable Rawk Star, told me they were his favorite new band at the time.

Weren’t those guys from Philly? Anybody know whatever happened to them????

They were from Philly, jeangray. I don’t know what happened to Huffamoose. I think I used to kind of know one of the guys. To this day, if it’s the guy I’m thinking, I still run into him every other year and can’t quite place his name or band from which I know him.

  10. They broke up. There always seemed to be some sort of drama occurring during their lifespan — label problems, band members quitting, etc. If you’ve ever seen Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, the guitar player is all over that movie. He’s playing in the house band, right near ?uestlove.

  11. Yes. Kevin Hansen (I think)

I can sometimes tell when our threads are picked up by other discussion groups. It’s fun, sometimes, to see what discussion our stuff leads to elsewhere, especially on fanboy sites of artists we’ve covered. Here are a couple of recent pickups, one of which you can read without subscribing and another that I have not yet been able to muster the effort to register and view. Maybe you will.

    Enjoy.

I’m actually already a registered member of joelfansforever and it turns out they all ended up agreeing that Billy Joel does suck, and then permanently shut down the site.
