As we approach the 1-year anniversary of the Rock Town Hall blog – an impressive and fun year of growth and outreach, I might add – we feel it’s time to reach out to a broader, less-inhibited audience. We’d all like an influx of some fresh meat, wouldn’t we?

For the last year we’ve kept true to our mission statement, keeping the focus on spirited music discussion. We’re doing what perhaps no other blog is doing, and we think we can do it even better. In the coming year we will stick to our mission, but expect some changes. Our numbers have gotten so large that we’ve been approached by more than one potential partner to help take us into the big money circle. We’re told that we just need to inch those hits up a tad more and “be willing to make a few compromises” to the format, which frankly, you probably won’t even notice. To reinvigorate passionate discussion and attract new revenue opportunities, we’re going to spice up the Halls of Rock.

You may notice slight changes in the tone of our Main Stage threads, but don’t ever think we’re about anything but the rock. Without further ado, let’s roll away the stone and let loose with some hot rocks!

What exactly do you have up your, uh, sleeve, Mod?

  2. Look, I’m cool with talking sex and rock n roll, but please get rid of the topless she-devil with guitar icon–it’s downright embarassing.

Dr. John, is that pipe tobacco I smell?

  4. Well, hey, if you all want to really show the world how nerdy you are, you couldn’t do a better job with this um, “badge,” of yours.

  5. Just to clarify: my comments are directed at mod and hvb. I would welcome other people’s comments.

Hmm… fascinating. (Tamp, tamp.) But (puff, puff)… what exactly do you *mean* by that?

If by “embarrassing” you mean “HOT!” And by “get rid of” you mean “MAKE IT LARGER”, then I agree.

Hey, I’m just getting back to the Halls after a busy morning. Hope you’re all cool with the new direction. Not too much of a difference, is it? I’m confident we’ll find our way.

Dr. John, I’ll take your recommendations under consideration. Personally, I found the icon quite tasteful and artistic in its aim of expressing rock’s devilish underpinnings.

  9. Eh… Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have joined if this was the direction the site was going in. I sorta perfer discussing music more than discussing ‘which album art is teh hawtest.’

  10. Don’t worry, fauna. Everybody’s just “in a mood.” In a day or two the list will be back to comparing alternative versions of minor Stones tunes.

Yikes, that picture of BS&TESB. They look like The Justice League of Asbury Park, seconds before they all flew into the rafters.

I just now saw that E-Street Band photo, and that’s the perfect description, fantastic.

Which reminds me, it can’t be said enough how great a term “Rock Iwo Jima Poses” is. I laugh at the thought of it every time the E-Street photo comes up in the banner.

  13. While y’all are Turning Japanese over album covers, you’re missing the hottest local news we’ve had in years: Bikini posing newscaster Alycia Lane doing time in women’s lock-up after punching out a cop she called a dyke. All the breast enhancement shots of our identity stealing “Bonnie” in exotic locales. Who needs Iraq when we have those racks. Philly’s gone completely Page 6! Friggin nuts.

Townsman Chickenfrank, I got just three words for ya: Pass The Scepter! We need more thoughtful commentary from you, in this area you know oh so well!

Pass the Sceptre indeed!!!! You have the power, Chickenfrank. Let’s talk.
