Sounds of the hall in roughly 33 1/3 minutes!
I was originally going to break this spotlight on Passport Records into two episodes: the first covering the ’70s and the second highlighting the ’80s, however that would be far too cruel on the listener. And like Mr. Moderator is fond of saying “I’ve got to think of my audience”.

We’re about a half way in, and so far the 70’s sound is trouncing that 80’s stuff. Looking forward to the rest. I’ve really been enjoying these indie label shows.
I have to admit thoroughly enjoying Nektar. Rockin’ and glam!
True West sounded like a rougher version of the Go-Betweens.
And the Plasmatics song made me realize how much The Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Karen O, are you listening?) are indebted to them.

Yeah, the song selection was interesting to say the least. It was very mixed bag show so much that I wouldn’t be surprised if someone gave up half way through it. I can’t imagine someone running out to download the Plasmatics or Brand X for old time’s sake. Also, it was a challenge to pick songs from the prog bands that were under 9 minutes long. And for the record, I don’t profess to care a whole lot for the genre. It has a lot to do with the virtuosity and conceit for their own talent that always turned me off.
Thanks for listening, I actually learned a lot putting this show together.
Just getting underway, but this is off to a great start. Tucky Buzzard sounds like they’re produced by Entwistle, not Wyman!
Surely it was unintentional, but “Silver Lady” was hilarious! Rod Argent and Larry Fast…what a bad combo.
I had some PVC records. I’m trying to think if my copy of Big Star’s Sister Lovers is on that label. I seem to remember PVC releases having bad album covers, like they were semi-bootlegs. I didn’t realize that was related to Passport.
That Plasmatics song actually sounds better than I remember them sounding in their time. They still sound like the generic “new wave” band in an early ’80s teen movie.
Also, we need our old friend tonyola to explain some of those prog records. I miss that guy!
