    Mockcarr is on the clock.

Well, now it gets tough. I feel like I have to go the route of free agency for the man on the throne. There are several good possibilities, perhaps the guy who actually played Dennis Wilson’s parts? He’s American, and I’m begining to feel a bit too Anglo. However, Blaine’s just doing too much session work to get out on the road. I need a guy who can play anything that nut McCartney wants because he’s killing me with all this extra rerecording. He also has to deal with this vague “play the floor tom like you’re on a mountain in Tibet” shite from Lennon. A steady beat with flair and skill; chops along with psychic abilites.

This line-up has two solid hit producers, one with all the tools, and one with all the intangibles. I need a fast fellow to set the table back there. I need that fellow to handle these star personalities and still shine on his own, and one who can mind meld with any lead guitarist we eventually add. A man who has proven he can bond with guitar players even when they happen to also be fine bass players.

A drummer with Experience – Mitch Mitchell.

  3. Mr. Moderator

Mockcarr takes Mitchell. The free-agent pool takes a major hit! Nice move, and great timing.

Now more than ever, experts are wondering why Even Worse Wizard, with cap space to spare, didn’t pick a more complimentary drummer for to suit Roy Wood in that 2-man configuration.

So I’m on the clock with Andyr’s pick…

After using my 2 first-round picks on a bassist and a singer – neither of whom can write songs – I better grab the Best Available Songwriter/Guitarist. I’m tempted to take Pollard, who’s shown a knack for writing Who-inspired songs that would suit Daltry’s range, but I’m not sure if he’s got the chops on guitar, despite the photo I’ve seen of him playing in the studio with recently quiet Townsman kpdexter sitting in the backgroun.

So, knowing where I’m eventually headed in terms of drums and keyboards, I’ll take a guy who’s already shown a knack for being the Townshend-like figure in a successful rock band, a guy who many of us wished would sing lead all the time until that wish was fulfilled…

With the second pick in the third round, Afterschool Special selects Mick Jones (Clash version)!

    @–} is on the clock.

Well, I’ve got the Seeg and Al Jackson bonding in the back room like the seasoned American Rock veterans they are. So far, the chemistry is solid, and they’re talking about old times.

But it’s one-dimensional, too. It’s all about the old-school soul music they grew up on, the dives they played, and — well, Jackson is grilling Seger about what session drummers get paid these days, which ought to tell you something.

I think — no, I *know* — what we need right about now is somebody who’s sympathetic to all the geezing going on back there, but who also has a continuing need to at least *try* and make music with an edge to it. Somebody who’s no stranger to the American roots/rock vibe that drive Al and Bob. Somebody who delivers the goods up in front of the stage as well as back by the drum riser. Somebody who can put a little bourbon and cigarettes back in the Seeg’s washed-out creative attitude.

The recently renamed Bob Seger and the New Dynamic Superiors choose for their third-round pick:

    Keith Richards.

  6. Nice move, Mr Mod. Mick is already polishing up his “Heart Attack Machine”

I hope your prepared for having Don Letts film all of your rehersals, gigs, band meetings, etc.

after charlie snags the awesome mitch mitche, the moderator goads…

“Now more than ever, experts are wondering why Even Worse Wizard, with cap space to spare, didn’t pick a more complimentary drummer for to suit Roy Wood in that 2-man configuration.”

i write: i love mitch mitchell. but can you imagine a busy drummer like him in a bassless two piece? no way.

obviously, i chose the bassless twopiece configuration to open up a musical discussion, so thanks for the goading.

it takes someone who stays home to fill the two piece’s drum hole. it also takes a guitarist like roy, who likes the low E and A strings.

dude, you should hear the track we’re working on. it’s like…so fresh sounding but so old sounding at the same time….

btw, i like fritz’ combo of al jackson and keef very much!

  8. mockcarr

Damn you, Fritz, I was going to add Keith as a second bass player.

  9. Mr. Moderator

BigSteve and The Subwoofers are on the clock!

This is shaping up to be a most interesting round!

  10. BigSteve

I don’t see anyone left in either talent pool that fits my vision of what this band could be, so I’m going the free agent route and selecting Garth Hudson. He’ll be playing mostly organ, but in the studio he can add piano when necessary and also a variety of saxophones etc. to Entwhistle’s french horn.

I have to sit out the next round, right?

  11. hrrundivbakshi

Charlie, you know I exist to ruin your best-laid sports wagering plans!

  12. hrrundivbakshi

Pince-nez nit, for sure, but it’s driving me bat-shit crazy: can we all agree to spell the bass player from the Who’s last name correctly? It’s “Entwistle,” not “Entwhistle.”

    Thank you!

  13. BigSteve

Can we all agree that it’s a short drive?

If you’re guano be that way.

  15. Mr. Moderator

I refuse to drop the h from the Who bassist’s name. I’m already having to remember to add an h to the guitarist’s name.

BigSteve: Wise free-agent signing. Yes, you’ll miss the 4th round – unless you can trade your way back into it. There’s also the developmental draft at the end to fill in gaps.

    Scott is on the clock.

  16. I need a bass player from the list so’s I can take a free agent pick to snag my secret weapon to boss Prince around. I considered Wasserman who I think is pretty good, but he’s made a lot of questionable career moves in the past and I wouldn’t want him to add yet another. So I’m down to two players on the talent pool that are also members of our little RTH club. TastyBassLee has provided many moments of pleasure and enjoyment with such highlights as his Jimmie Woods story. He really is quite a nice, versatile player, but I think I need to add a little more rockin’ in the bass chair. I’m goin’ with that little utility fielder, listed as a guitar player on the draft roster, but also known for some smokin’ bass playing as a supporting player in the Original Sins. Art DiFuria gets the job.

  17. Mr. Moderator

Bold, Geo! Sorry I overlooked you in the draft order. Scott is still up next.

  18. saturnismine

    geo, i’m honored and flattered.

i promise i’ll lay off the skywalker. no sausage fingers here!

I’ve got two picks coming this round, yet we’re not listed. (Insert Andy Gill communist gag here.)

  20. Mr. Moderator

Did you get both of Andy’s picks in this round? Help me out, folks.

  21. sammymaudlin

I traded you my first for your second, giving me two seconds. I traded one of those seconds to andyr in exchange for his third and a Graham Parker CD, giving me once second and two thirds. I used my second for the chunky funk of Andy Gill, leaving me two third round picks. My attorneys have confirmed. Now if someone is in the position to give me two fourth round picks in exchange for my two third round picks, I’ll take it, which would leave me with those two and my original fourth round pick for a total of three fourth round picks. Unless today is Wednesday in which case… No its Thursday, nevermind.

    Don’t be a douchebag

  22. I think Sammy is right. He should have my third round pick.

This is why we need a Strong Commisioner

  23. I’ll go the free-agent route and take Buck Dharma from BOC. The guy needs an outside project.

  24. I’ll go the free-agent route and take Buck Dharma from BOC. The guy needs an outside project.

Is this Buck Dharma with the moustache, or without the moustache? I think without the moustache affects his playing ability. It’s something about the magic of the moustache itself that’s just missing in his game when it’s gone.

  25. Mr. Moderator

Interesting band you’re putting together, Scott.

Sammy, you’ve got TWO picks to make.

Andyr, do not challenge the Commissioner’s strength in public ever again. I can hit you up with a $100,000 fine – a fine that would count against your cap!

I guess this means that we have to be careful or our artists will never play in this Town Hall again!!!! Ack!

  27. sammymaudlin

    Am I up?

  28. Mr. Moderator

    You’re ON, brother!

  29. hrrundivbakshi

I been out SIGNING THE LEASE ON OUR NEW STUDIO!!! WOO-HOO!!!

Look for my Round three pick in a few minutes. I got it all set, just gotta get it down on paper, so to speak.

  30. Mr. Moderator

You mean Round 4, right Fritz? We’re awaiting the end of Round 3. More importantly, CONGRATS!!!

  31. I been out SIGNING THE LEASE ON OUR NEW STUDIO!!! WOO-HOO!!!

    ALRIGHT FRITZ!!! 🙂 🙂

  32. sammymaudlin

OK. I got two minutes here. I’m using my round 3 picks to recruit my free-agent rhythm section. I’m looking for some dudes who can bring a rock-heavy dub sound, but tight- Jah Wobble on bass and Stewart Copeland on the throne.

Gotta go. Feel free to write your own jokes about Jah Wobble sweeping up the studio and/or Stewart Copeland insisting that it’s his band even though he was picked third.

Also, we’ve got a name- Division By Zero

  33. Mr. Moderator

Got ya! You’ve surpassed me in cap usage: $1.1!!! I think you’ve got a pick from Andyr coming up in the 4th, so beware. Keep an eye on that developmental pool.

Stay tuned for Round 4. Mockcarr is on the clock!
