We here in the Halls of Rock Town are sometimes taken to task for being overly negative, snarky, hyper-critical, and all too often, just downright rude. As part of our collective efforts to bring a bit of sunshine and light to the world wide web, we occasionally make an extra effort effort to find something good to say about, you know, stuff that is clearly godawful.

It is in that spirit that we embark on yet another effort to bring some positivity to our proceedings. Please spend some quality time with the video above, then—if you can—please find something nice to say about it. You’ll feel a whole lot better, I promise you.

I look forward to your comments. Just remember, if you can’t say anything nice about this video… please don’t say anything at all.

With less than 3 months to go, I am getting very excited about the prospect of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!

The behind-the-scenes activity is already hotting up, with 75-year-old Engelbert Humperdinck lined up to represent Great Britain. He must be gutted that his place as the oldest person to perform in the Contest will immediately be usurped by 76-year-old Natalya Pugacheva from the Buranovo Grannies, whose husband is apparently very cross that she is going away to represent her country and he will need to find someone else to milk their cattle during the competition.

Go Grannies!

  1. Well, I think they’re just adorable!! Great to see them involved with music and culture and wanting to share it with the world! You GO, girls!<3

  2. I have nothing to add except that when one uses the “<" and "3" to make a heart, and it doesn't make the heart for whatever reason, it kind of looks like a pair of nuts being blown sideways by a particularly strong wind.

    Hence the “girls” comment.

Gosh, those grannies have good choppers! Better than the English! And their colorful frocks will most undoubtably influence next year’s runway fashions. I mean, where do you think Vivienne Westwood got her ideas?

  5. cdm: I just spit my coffee all over the screen!!! Now whenever I see the sideways heart ….I have to make sure there’s nothing in my gob…:)

  6. Then my job is done.

  7. The grannies thought they were going to an audition for the “Fiddler On the Roof” touring roadshow but they made a wrong turn….into fame and immortality!

  8. Not by a long shot! you got a lot more laughter to bring to folks’ hearts today; no rest for the wicked-funny!

  9. They all look relaxed and into it. I liked that all of them seemed very comfortable on stage, not just the hot one, who is probably used to being the center of attention.

    – No animals required execution and chemical treatment of their skin in the making of those shoes.
    – Those grannies have finally found a good use for euros; necklaces
    – That ugly thing growing out of their heads was NOT a mole, it was a microphone

  11. Ha! I thought those were moles at first too.

The video is only superficially awful, as I believe the appearance of these women at this event resulted in a fold in the space-time continuum, creating vast implications for the future of all humankind.

    Uh, yeah… the “hot” one.

  14. mockcarr

But is that good? I mean, is it wash and fold, or just fold?

That reminds me of the Odd Couple episode where Murray the Cop leaves his wife for a week and stays with Felix and Oscar and then sets the three of them up with some roller derby girls. Felix and Oscar huddle in the kitchen and it’s decided they will make the best of the situation, but Felix stipulates that he’s “not taking the plain one”, to which Oscar replies, “Plain?! Murray is the cutest one out there!”

  16. You know what I find nice about this video? The point at the 2:49 mark, when the short one clearly resists flipping two birds at the apathetic guy in the front row, next to the woman on the right end.
