The Dirtbombs – Ode To A Black Man
The Crystal Mansion – Somebody Oughta Turn Your Head Around
Messengers – That’s The Way A Woman Is
R Dean Taylor – Indiana Wants Me
UFO – Follow You Home
XIT – I Was Raised
Power Of Zeus – It Couldn’t Be Me
Toe Fat – Bad Side of The Moon
Sonic’s Rendezvous Band – Earthy

Cliff’s Notes:

  • The UFO song resembles the Kinks so much I’m surprised they didn’t get sued. Also, the XIT song reminds me of I Wanna Be Your Dog
  • Fatboy Slim samples the Crystal Mansion song on his song “Fucking in Heaven”.
  • When I put the episode together last weekend I wanted to include two Detroit area bands to open and close the show. I had luckily included the Sonic’s Rendezvous Band song featuring Scott Asheton on drums.

Fuck yeah!!!!!! That set had Mr. Royale and I stomping our motorcycle books, and donning our leather vests. Mr. Royale grew a fu-man-chu in Rare Earth’s honor; I swung a roach clip from my hair.

    That was pretty kick ass!

All that’s needed now is low-rider van with wolves howling at the moon airbrushed on the side. Oh, with a waterbed in the back and a moonroof.

  3. Great show! How much dirtweed was smoked in the recording of those songs? Did Kid Rock’s dad run that subsidiary? Who would have thought Rare Earth could be the worst band on their own imprint?
