My fellow Townspeople, this is a call to scribe!

On a lark I Googled “online petitions” and found a place that we can actually put one up. I need some help writing it though. Here’s what I have so far:

As the self-proclaimed guardian of all things rock, the music discussion blog Rock Town Hall-

What next?

As the self-proclaimed guardian of all things rock, the music discussion blog Rock Town Hall demands that the makers of the upcoming musical, Across the Universe pull the movie from production and destroy the master reels and all copies slated for theatrical release. Furthermore, any production company with even the slightest notion of building an entertainment vehicle around the music of The Beatles is hereby advised to redirect the project around a lesser British Invasion band, such as Herman’s Hermits or The Moody Blues. Think about it, The Moody Blues delivered processed cheese in their prime. There’s no such thing as a “cheap imitation” of Velveeta.

But back to this upcoming film and all future stories loosely based on the music of The Beatles… They’ve got to stop. The following Townspeople support this measure:

Good start. Love The Moody Blues redirect.

Can work a Stigwood reference into it? And can we / should we mention what a great job that Dylan Corp is doing in comparison.

The trailer for Across the Universe made it look like a total train wreck, but Stephen Holden, who has a background as a music critic, gives it a glowing review in today’s NYTimes; http://movies.nytimes.com/2007/09/14/movies/14univ.html

The NYT may like it, but the consensus is rather damning:
